Our story

2016

The organisation was founded in 2016 as ‘Filoxenia International’ by a group of volunteers responding to the humanitarian crisis in Northern Greece.

2019

In 2019, the team decided to adapt the scope of the organisation to address the causes of urban problems, rather than reacting to their results, developing into ‘InCommOn – Innovative Communities Onwards’, which empowers communities to develop their own skills and work together to solve problems collectively.

2016 – 2019

From 2016 till 2019 it undertook social and housing projects with displaced people and local residents with a holistic approach – giving equal consideration to the social, environmental, economic and long-term development issues – and working with people as equal participants to generate long term, sustainable solutions.

Our philosophy

InCommOn recognises that each individual has skills, strengths, knowledge and ideas through which they can contribute to building social capital to face common problems.

It therefore aims to harness the potential of citizens to be the co-creators of their own sustainable futures through initiatives led by the communities they are for.
